Public Safety for Sale in Virginia?: The Progressive Special Interest says YES!

We are less than three weeks away from Election 2019 and the "Battle for Virginia". This election cycle has witnessed unprecedented "special interest" contributions from Progressive advocacy groups that for the most part are not even based in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

While there is certainly millions of dollars being funneled into Virginia from outside sources up and down every ballot whether for Assembly races like the Senate or House of Delegates or local races, no where is the special interest of the Progressive Left more evident than in the races for Commonwealth Attorney seats.

This of course flies well under the radar for most voters. Most have little idea the millions being contributed in such races or even the reasons why. One such reason is the recent push for localities to endorse "sanctuary city" policies, especially in Northern Virginia but the remainder of the Commonwealth is not immune. Localities like Chesterfield outside Richmond or Virginia Beach localities are also facing candidates who support such policies. Progressive candidates like Amanda Pohl (Chesterfield) running in the 11th Senate District, Cheryl Turpin (Virginia Beach) in the 7th Senate, Missy Cotter Smasal (Virginia Beach) in the 7th Senate, Debra Rodman in the 12th Senate (Henrico) John Bell in the 13th Senate (Loudoun and Prince William) and  Amy Laufer in the 17th Senate (Spotsylvanis/Fredericksburg)and Ghazala Hashmi in the 10th Senate District (Richmond) appear in support of such polices but Progressives have determined to hedge their bets with regard to implementing policy not through laws passed by the Assembly in Richmond per say but through the criminal justice system.

This is why for the first time in Virginia political history elections for Commonwealth Attorney positions are receiving unprecedented contributions to influence the outcome of the elections on the local level. Some of these races are approaching one million dollars in overall contributions. One million dollars in contributions to a candidate for Commonwealth Attorney.

No where is it more evident than Northern Virginia. A bastion for Progressivism or Cultural Marxism, Northern Virginia in the last two decades has shifted as far left as it has ever been electing radical Progressives like Delegate Mark Levine of the 45th House District unopposed yet again in this legislators political history where rarely challenged and people like Gerry Connolly representing the 11th Congressional District comprising Fairfax County. Both staunch supporters of "sanctuary" policies.

In Fairfax, Steve Descano is running for Commonwealth Attorney with the full support and backing of political actions committees and special interest groups largely from outside Virginia. Only 27% of Descano's contributions come from Virginia and even less from Fairfax County itself. The following is Steve Descano's contribution breakdown:

Who is contributing to Descano's campaign? Of the $734,035 funded thus far lets examine the largest donors which are:

                                     $37,170 from New Virginia Majority

Just these two PAC's contribute to about 500,000 in funding of his total 734,035 raised thus far. And add in Real Justice PAC and it eclipses more than eighty percent of the overall funding.

Steve Descano has pledged not to prosecute felony larcenies under $1,500. Meaning, Descano will not enforce the laws addressing the theft of property valued less than $1,500. See here:

So who is the Justice for Public Safety PAC exactly and is it seeking to influence? The PAC is billionaire George Soros sponsored Progressive political action committee that is contributing mostly this cycle to Northern Virginia Commonwealth Attorney races. The why is calculating. The PAC is attempting to circumvent the legislative process where policies are created and enacted and using the judicial process to influence the outcomes they seek. For example, the implementation of "sanctuary" policies at the local level through non enforcement or limited prosecution or leveraging social justice as a means of setting guidelines punitive or otherwise and gun restriction policies like gun free zones.

This PAC is heavily contributing in the Loudoun County Commonwealth Attorney race as well to the tune of $57,655 in support of Progressive Buta Biberaj in her race against Nicole Wittmann. The New Va Majority is also contributing to her campaign like Steve Descano's. But Justice for Public Safety PAC hasn't stop with these two and has contributed what could only be characterized as alarming in its effort to influence the Arlington County Commonwealth Attorney race.

The office was formerly held by Jim Plowman (R) now elevated to the 20th Circuit Court bench.

Nicole Wittmann (R) is being out spent almost 10 to 1 in her race against Progressive Buta Biberaj who attempted to have Wittmann removed from the ballot just last month citing she misrepresented her domicile. The court ruled in Wittmann's favor but the process demonstrates to what lengths Progressives will go should one oppose them. They are heavily funded and the hope was that the costs of litigation would result in Wittmann's withdrawal. How is that for "justice".

Justice to these people is about power and money. Its about being able to use that power and money to influence what should be the legislatures responsibility but do it through activism in the criminal justice system.

In Arlington County, Justice for Public Safety has contributed  $618,091 to Parisa Dehghani Tafti. Of the 849,361 raised by the Tafti campaign, $618,091 has come directly from George Soros sponsored PAC's  as well as New Va Majority and Real Justice PAC. In this case, t had kore to do with the Primary where the funding was in effect meant to defeat Theo Stamos in the Democrat Primary back in June which Tafti was successful. The majority of her funding as well came from Soros and "foreign" money from outside her Arlington County locality.

One has to ask whether "public safety" is actually being bought in places like Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington but this "foreign" money being contributed coupled with any "dark money". Dark money are those contributions made that do not disclose who the donors are.

The funding provided by George Soros helped each of these candidates secure the Democrat nominations in their localities by far out raising there party opponents. Now, the funding is increasing for the general elections against Republicans.

Understand what is at stake this November. Attorneys endorsed by Justice for the Public Safety PAC that have been successful have purged the ranks of prosecutors in their office upon securing office. Do Virginians really want localities to follow the Philadelphia way? Well Justice for Public Safety PAC certainly hopes so. It is clearly attempting to influence and create its own reforms by funding candidates who will be beholden to the contributors.

Whether you reside in Loudoun, Fairfax or Arlington this should alarm every Virginian. Its should because your locality in the Commonwealth very well may be next. It is important to send the message to these "foreign" contributors that Virginians will not stand to have justice bought in the Commonwealth.

This movement is not an organic movement in Virginia but one that mirrors more of a financial invasion of the Commonwealth but outside interests set to instill its own values upon Virginians.

Everytown "Blue Flag" Laws?: NO not Virginia Towns!

The shooting in Virginia Beach that took place on May 31, 2019 the lives of 12 Virginians and wounded four more was a tragedy. There is no denying that fact. However, the notion that the laws being advocated by Progressives require Virginians to surrender their due process rights. Progressives claim that these "pre crime" laws are required to keep Virginia safe but is there any evidence to support such laws in fact reduce gun violence or keep citizens safe.

Now five months removed, Virginia still has not been told why the shooting in Virginia Beach happened. No motives as of yet have been provided for the city employee to commit such an act of violence in his workplace. we simply have been told that he submitted his resignation and had two forty five caliber handguns on his person.

Progressive Democrats would have us believe that "red flag" laws or in truth "Blue Flag" laws would prevent such violence. Yet we still have no knowledge to make that determination or use as a basis for implementing laws that in effect violate our Constitutional rights.

There is nothing constitutional about these laws. The only aspect that aligns with our founding principles is that States can enact such regulations regarding guns and have done so since our founding. States can regulate carry laws or where guns may or may not be carried like "gun free zones". Congress however under the U.S. Constitution has no authority to implement these laws. None.

So when we talk about "Blue Flag"  (red flag) laws what are we talking about. These are gun control (not safety) laws that permit police or family to petition a State or Commonwealth court to order the temporary confiscation of firearms from a person who allegedly represents a danger to others or themselves.

A person could be "flagged" for saying insensitive things, perceived threatening speech, not using the right "pronouns", opposing political speech, support another candidate, or simply posts comments on social media that someone objects to in order for a protective "red flag" order to commence. In essence you will see "limited" speech prevail over free speech. Can you imagine the use of "red flag" laws for couples going through a contested divorce or custody dispute? What is to prevent one parent from claiming the other "could" do something to them, the children or the themselves? Mind you it merely only has to be "claimed" not proven to get the order to remove and confiscate the guns. The individual does not get due process of law in truth nor gets to defend himself.

There are roughly 17 states around the country who already have these "red flag" laws but as one identifies these states you will see that the majority are all "Blue" states. Thats right. Only Indiana home to Vice President Mike Pence who was Governor of Indiana from 2013-17  and Florida are the only Republican electoral college states that supported Trump to enact such measures.

Just two out of 15 states. States like California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Delaware all have these measures as a matter of law along with the District of Columbia and yet have they reduced gun violence?

Large amounts of campaign contributions have flowed into Virginia regarding gun control issue. With every seat in the General Assembly on the ballot next month in November, political action committees focused on the gun issue are providing Democrats with support in their bids to unseat Republican incumbents. The Republicans in Virginia currently control both chambers of the Assembly but the Democrats control the Executive.

Democrats have been using the Virginia Beach tragedy for political gain. This can be most visibly seen in the Senate races involving the 8th Senate District and the 7th. Both these districts are along Virginia's eastern coast and where the shooting in May touched many of the communities. Both these districts are heavily comprised of precincts in Virginia Beach City. The 8th has 135K voters all within city limits whereas the 7th has 133K Virginia Beach voters and roughly 5k City of Norfolk voters.

The 8th supported Donald Trump 51-42% over Hillary Clinton and the 7th was a dead heat between the two candidates. Bill Desteph (R) incumbent in the 8th won his district in 2015 with 59% of the vote but the district has supported Tim Kaine and Governor Ralph Northam since his election in 2015. The 7th District supported Kaine, Northam by wider margins than the 8th and Frank Wagner (R) who won the 7th in 2015 with 54% of the vote is no longer on the ballot. Delegate Cheryl Turpin (D) is running against Jen Kiggans (R) for the the districts Senate seat next month. Both Desteph's opponent Cotter Smasal (D) and Jen Kiggans opponent Cheryl Turpin (D) have been endorsed by Everytown, (see below)

The relationship with these districts and the other Senate seats is not unique. Many Virginia Senate Districts have split allegiances when it comes to Party affiliation of its elected officials. This is why the outside money is flowing into these districts to influence the election.

In fact Everytown for Gun Safety through its Action Fund has endorsed 25 Virginia candidates ALL Democrats in this years election providing almost a half million dollars into candidate races. They see potential pick ups in Virginia as result of recent mass shooting across the country but in particular the Virginia Beach shooting.

That being said, we must ask ourselves if the proposals endorsed and financially supported by Everytown and the candidates they have endorsed would actually solve gun violence. Would "Blue Flag" laws decrease gun violence or simply just restrict access by law abiding citizens?

Progressive candidates endorsed by Everytown are not out on the campaign trail endorsing "safety" rather they are advocating for restrictions. Progressives seek to repeal Open Carry laws which permit citizens to carry or transport firearms under the protection of the law. Progressives also seek to reform if not repeal "concealed carry" laws that permit citizens whom have been approved by a judge to carry firearms under concealment or not seen with the naked eye.

Recently, former Congressman Beto O'Rourke took it a step further when he issued the statement that the local governing authorities would "confiscate" firearms not turned over through buy back programs to the federal government. Problem is its not a "buy back" program in truth. No legal gun owner EVER bought a gun from the federal government so it is not buying back anything in truth. And why would law abiding citizens turn over firearms that they purchased only to pay for them again through a buyback but not have use of said firearm? Isn't is tax payer money that O'Rourke is advocating be used to purchase the guns back?

Just the other night, Beto O'Rourke stated that is there is non compliance that local law enforcement would be used to go to citizens homes and confiscate weapons. In Maryland in 2018 law enforcement officers under red flag laws shot and killed a man whom they attempted to remove firearms from as they entered his home. Are we sure these laws would "reduce" violence?

The New York Times has even stated that the data in "inconclusive" as to whether extreme risk protection orders aka red flag orders actually reduce gun violence. Most gun violence in the United States is not the workplace or mass shooting but rather domestic violence often in the homes and often by people who know their victims. There are already means by which protective orders may be granted for domestic violence or threats of violence throughout the Commonwealth.

Has California's or Illinois's gun violence declined after the implementation of red flag laws or extreme protection laws that violate an individuals rights not only to have a firearm but also due process rights.  The Constitution protects us from the removal or confiscation of property without due process. Progressives wish to take action against individuals without any criminality, charges or trial and strip them of the rights under the Constitution. They claim its in the interest of public safety.

These actions that Progressives are endorsing are what they like to call "pre crime" actions. They seek to "prevent" crime before it happens. Remember the Tom Cruise sci fi thriller "Minority Report" where they would round up criminals before they acted because they had a system in place that informed them the person would "at some point in time" commit the action.

There is of course NO evidence to support the claim that these "BLUE FLAG" laws actually reduce gun violence. NONE. That of course will not stop Progressive groups from advocating for these laws and Everytown has been a major source of campaign funding for Democrat candidates in Virginia.

The efforts of outside contributions coming from outside the Commonwealth is striking. The 12th District Senate Race has already eclipsed two million dollars spent. Two million.

"Special Interest" Funding: The Big Progressive Lie in Virginia

So things are heating up as campaigns enter the last few weeks before the potentially historic November Virginia elections. This cycle elections election represents one of the most contested in decades as Virginia Democrats have an opportunity to secure the "trifecta".

The "trifecta" consists of controlling the Executive Mansion under the leadership of Governor Ralph Northam and winning both chambers of the General Assembly consisting of the Senate and the House of Delegates.

As it stands today, while the Democrats control the Executive in Virginia, Republicans control the General Assembly by very narrow margins. The Assembly has been very productive under the Republican leadership in terms of the State budget and a 797 million dollar surplus was delivered by the Assembly and it has maintained a triple A bond rating for the Commonwealth. The Republicans have also increased cash reserves on hand for the Commonwealth.

Virginia has been placed on strong footing by Republicans so it is no surprise that the state of Virginia "economics" is not even an issue being raised by Virginia Democrats during this years election but rather gun control and healthcare.

"We are seeing the results of our steady and conservative budgeting approach," House Appropriations Chairman S. Chris Jones (R-Suffolk) said. “I am proud of the work the House Appropriations Committee, along with our Senate colleagues, have done to get us to this point".

In an effort to flank Republicans in this years election, Democrats have resorted to one of the tactics they seem to always utilize when the economy is going well and Virginians are gaining employed.

Class warfare.

This tactic is used to divide Virginians based on income, but it is also used as a tool in an attempt to demonstrate how the other side is being funded by individuals, groups, corporation or political action committees that are "big business" or national interest groups like the National Rifle Association rather than individuals or families throughout the Commonwealth.

It is incredibly disingenuous to insinuate that Republicans are receiving such funding and the Democrats are not. In fact, the Democrats this cycle are receiving record levels of funding from outside the Commonwealth. This funding is not coming from small donors or families.

It is coming from "SPECIAL INTEREST".

The Claim by Progress Virginia:

Republicans Are Funded By Corporate Special Interests; Democrats Funded By Real People

"Virginia—After campaign finance reports came out for candidates across the Commonwealth, one thing is clear: Republicans are funded by Republican political action committees, corporate special interests, and the wealthy few. Democrats are funded by real people who give what they can to candidates they believe in. It is clear that voters in these districts are excited to vote for and donate to candidates who support policies that will make their lives better like increasing the minimum wage, expanding access to affordable health care, including abortion, and preventing gun violence in our communities."


The claim is meant to once again promote the narrative that it is "special interest" money driving the Republican campaigns and as such it is those interests that Republicans will represent in the General Assembly.

Its the great campaign lie.

What the Democrats and Progress Virginia does not want voters to know and the media rarely reports is the actual contributions being made to Democrat campaigns across the Commonwealth and who is funding these races from outside the Commonwealth. Reports recently surfaced that George Soros has dedicated 500,000 to the Virginia races being funneled through Planned Parenthood Pac and others. Soros is responsible for the 2.6 million funding Demand Justice that was used as the sword against the confirmation of Justice Judge Kavanaugh last Fall. Soros funds the Alliance for Justice which is being used to influence races for Commonwealth Attorney's and "bench" nominations.

Many of these Democrat funding sources are known as "dark money"- where donors are never revealed. Others use what is commonly referred to as "pass through" entities which then contribute to races without voters knowing who is actually funding the contributions. This is what is happening today all across Virginia.

In examining three critical Virginia Senate races you can see where the large contributions to Democrats are coming from fueling the ad buys, commercials and radio spots. Its not coming from the small donors as Progress Virginia implies. Its not even coming from Virginians.

The most egregious example is in the 12th Senate District where incumbent Siobhan Dunnavant(R) is being challenge by Delegate Debra Rodman (D). Both these candidates are approaching one million dollars spent on campaigns thus far and while Progress Virginia would have voters believe that it is only Republicans representing "special interest" the contributions to Del. Rodman say otherwise.

The majority of the value of contributions coming into the campaigns of just these three Democrat challengers is significant and represents the majority of the hundreds of thousands pouring into their campaigns. Its one thing to count number of small donors and claim "grassroots" but entirely another to dismiss the hundreds of thousand coming into Virginia Democrat campaigns by interest groups.

Progress Virginia fails to recognize the "special interest" being poured into Progressive candidates from outside the Commonwealth and in fact out right dismisses it in their narrative launched against Conservatives in Virginia races. The misrepresentation is quite evident when you examine the races in key districts via Vpap.org that the Democrats hope to secure in this years elections.

The majority of the contributions are coming from single issue action committees and it is important to understand just what these committees are seeking to influences. For example Emily's List is the most influential pro choice political action committee in the country and are advocates for limited to no restrictions on third term abortions. This of course became an issue in Virginia when  Delegate Kathy Tran (D) of the 42d House District proposed the Virginia Dream Act in early 2019 where current restrictions would be reduced making third (late) term abortions more accessible.

Other advocacy groups like those supporting gun control and gun confiscation are also contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars into Virginia this cycle.

In the Senate 8th District located in eastern Virginia Missy Smasal (D) is challenging Bill Desteph(R) for the Senate seat. Both are veterans of the United States Navy and the recent shooting by city employee in Virginia Beach has raised the issue of gun control issue more than any other and the "special interest" is contributing heavily. One would think it would be the National Rifle Association playing a larger role but its not. Its anti-gun and pro-confiscation advocacy groups that are contributing heavily to Progressive bids to secure Senate seats.

The Giffords PAC and Everytown for Gun Safety which has a Virginia Chapter is heavily engaged in this years election. Everytown has endorsed 25 candidates and pledged over 400K in contributions to Progressives in Virginia.

Important to note that Everytown is supporting Missy Smasal (D)in the 8th District and Del. Cheryl Turpin (D)in the Virginia Senate 7th District as wel as Del. Debra Rodman mentioned above in the 12th District. Victories in these districts would usher in Democrat majorities and an end to Virginia Open Carry, more gun free zones and greater restrictions on concealed carry permits,

The Progress Virginia assertion that are funded by special interest and Democrat candidates are funded by small donors is frankly absurd and frankly a misrepresentation seeking to influence the election in November.

It will require voters in these races to contribute individually and get out an vote to counter the influence of foreign money pouring into these Progressive campaigns seeking to change Virginia and make it mirror places like Maryland, New Jersey or New York.

That truly is what is at stake in November and "special interest" is clearly on the side of the Democrats in 2019.

Spanberger's Foreign Policy Hypocrisy: Syria and Yemen

The conflict in the Middle East post 9/11 has been a part of many Americans lives for almost twenty years. Virginians all across the Commonwealth and the country have been touched by endless wars, operations and deployments. The Commonwealth's economy is significantly impacted by the military as Virginia is home to large contingent of not only military forces but civilian contracting and a defense industry complex dependent upon Congressional appropriations.

Democrats have long called for the draw down in the Middle East. Former President Obama campaigned on getting the United States out of Iraq and ending military operations. However, during the Obama administration implementation of its foreign policy the world witnessed the rise of ISIS or as Obama would call ISIL. Obama would be forced to commit troops to Syria. Obama had placed a line in the sand to the Assad regime regarding chemical weapons being used on civilians but in the end backed down in the face of Assad doing just that.

The fecklessness of effective policy to address Syria resulted in the 2013 invasion of Crimea by Russia and further aggression in Ukraine. These events stemmed from the inaction of Obama and Democrats to address the crisis in Syria. Obama did not believe Syria represented any real strategic importance and it was the assessments by the intelligence community that moved Obama in the direction of inaction regarding Syria with severe consequences not only to the reputation of the United States but to Europe given the mass exodus of Syrian refugees flooding European nations and Turkey.

Turkey. You may have been hearing alot about our NATO ally in recent weeks right? The roots of the issue faced in Syria today is being placed at the foot of President Trump by the Democrats but the truth is the problem with Turkey is one that the Democrats created. By not dealing with the Assad regime, permitting Russia to attain dominance in the region and creating a crisis resulting in hundreds of thousands of fleeing Syrians arriving on the Turkish border, our ally has had to deal with the instability of its border with Syria and the rise of the Kurdish PKK which it has been fighting for years.

The media refuses to address the recent history and merely wants to use Syria and the Kurds as a sword against Trump and Rep. Abigail Spanberger has joined those Progressives who seek to hang the turmoil in Syria and the issues with Turkey on Trump.

The media refuses to acknowledge the Democrat policies that led to Aleppo tragedy.

This remains problematic for Spanberger on a number of fronts. First, the Syrian issues is one created by Obama and Democrat policy. Second, the Syrian issue is one also created by the intelligence community that Rep. Spanberger worked for before running for Congress and thirdly Spanberger's demonstrates a level of utter hypocrisy in her criticisms of Trump policy in the region.

Constituents have no way of knowing what Spanberger did for the intelligence community and the CIA. Voters could potentially seek freedom of information findings but likely its classified yet Spanberger continues to leverage her intelligence background along with Rep. Elaine Luria on the VA02 when it comes to releasing statements or criticizing the Executive. Spanberger recently had a go at Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at a hearing on the Hill. Pompeo interesting enough was the Director of the CIA from January 2017 to April 2018 the very year Spanberger and Luria were elected to Congress. It was clear Spanberger has little respect for Pompeo.

The intelligence angle begs many more questions than can be addressed here but its alarming that Spanberger and Luria both are backing impeachment of Trump based on revelations of an "intelligence officer" regarding second and third hand conversations regarding the Ukrainian phone conversation. It appears as though these leaders appear to be backing their former employer over the majority of the constituents in their districts whom do not support impeachment. Understand, neither Rep. Spanberger or Luria have demanded a formal vote or inquiry in the historical sense regarding impeachment. They both are supporting closed door, secret hearings where the opposition is nopt permitted to call witnesses of its own. That in itself should be alarming but coupled with the hypocrisy on foreign policy its disturbing for voters.

This morning, my colleagues and I returned from a bipartisan congressional trip to Turkey, Afghanistan, and the Syria-Jordan border. We met with security, intelligence, and diplomatic leadership from our U.S. forces and foreign partners. Over and over, we heard about the danger posed to Americans if we abandon our Kurdish allies, the Syrian Defense Forces. The SDF has been our primary ally on the ground in the fight against ISIS, working and dying alongside American troops.

To walk back our support of the SDF and invite Turkey to act aggressively in northern Syria is a misguided & catastrophic blow to our national security interests. Not only will this decision further destabilize the region, it will make it more difficult for the U.S. to recruit allies and partners in our ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

A constituent of Spanberger posed a great question on the Representative's facebook page:

 "So Turkey is a NATO member who has been given the authority and task to maintain security to the region and the president is upholding his promises to remove our troops from this region. To continue staying in this region is no longer in our national interest at this point to remain there. It is however within the congressional to do otherwise and even state declaration of war if you so elect to stay in the region. Is this your desired stance?" (Marty Juergenson)

Spanberger and Luria refuse to recognize the United States has no treaty or agreement ratified by Congress with the Kurds. In fact, Democrats refuse to even want to explore the recognition of Kurdistan in Northern Iraq and Spanberger refuses to address this issue in her town halls. Democrats are demanding support for the Kurds but refuse to provide a state in the region of their own. This position is likely an appeasement to Turkey who does not wish to see an established Kurdistan. Again very bipolar tendencies of inconsistency by Democrats in the House but that is not the true hypocrisy.

The true hypocrisy of Abigail Spanberger and Progressives is Yemen.

You will recall that there is a civil war being fought in Yemen. This conflict is very similar to Syria. The Yemenese government was forced to leave in March 2015. For those keeping track that was before Trump even was elected President and Obama was still in command of foreign policy as President. Houthi rebels backed by Iran and its terror affiliates took over large portions of Yemen in a coup. Saudi Arabia along with over a dozen nations formed a coalition to demand the return of the Hadi government. The Saudi led coalition has been backed by both the United States and Great Britain.

However, Spanberger has supported in Congress a cessation of support for the Saudi-led coalition. On her House website she stated:

U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger led to block the sale of certain offensive weapons to Saudi Arabia.

Under the administration’s emergency arms sale to Saudi Arabia, thousands of additional precision-guided munitions would transfer to Saudi coalition forces without Congressional review. Additionally, the United States would transfer the manufacturing technology needed to produce these weapons in Saudi Arabia. These wholly offensive weapons have been responsible for significant civilian casualties in the Saudi-led war in Yemen.

Spanberger’s resolution—which she introduced in the U.S. House last May—would reject the emergency transfer of these precision-guided munitions from the United States to Saudi Arabia. Her joint resolution is led in the U.S. Senate by U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ)

Spanberger would also assert on her House page:

“Today, I voted to pass this important resolution, which would help hold our partners accountable for destabilizing behavior and allow Congress to reassert its role in authorizing the use of military force”. “We must seriously review U.S. military engagement abroad, and this strategic process begins by ensuring our military support does not compromise our values, exacerbate human suffering, threaten our close relationship with Israel, or jeopardize the safety of American citizens or interests. I urge the President to sign it as soon as possible.”

Place these assertions in the context of Syria. What has Trump done other than remove the possibility of the United States getting caught up in another unrecognized war or conflict by Congress. Had Trump added troops to the region with massive deployments what would Spanberger's position be?

Spanberger has worked to undermine our allies in Yemen repeatedly since entering Congress in January. There have been numerous bills like HJ 37- restricting our armed forces from engaging in Yemen, H.R. 910- Yemen Refueling Act preventing our military from refueling Saudi and coalition aircraft engaging the Iranian backed terror Houthi affiliate and HJ56 restricting use and cooperation of our military with our allies in the coalition and supporting them with intelligence or support.

So one the one hand Spanberger and progressives want to criticize Trump policy regarding Syria but refuse to examine their own position with regard to Yemen. Democrats like Spanberger advocate for abandoning our allies in the region like Saudi Arabia who has come under attack directly by Iranian affiliates with its oil fields being hit recently yet step up to the podium and criticize Trump's current policy as abandoning the Kurds.

It is unclear what Spanberger's real position is  regarding Syria having been part of an administration that determined Syria was not of strategic importance. Those assessments came from the intelligence community Spanberger was part of. Is she merely echoing the Obama policies of 2015-16 with regard to Syria? 

Or is Spanberger like she does so often merely using the situation in Syria as simply another sword against Trump? 

Constituents in the VA07, historically a Conservative district in Virginia and supported Donald Trump for President in 2016 is on very shaky ground having supported impeachment and now appears to leave voters with more unanswered questions regarding Syria. Many like those at Bearing Drift, a "conservative" Virginia site clearly have opposed Trump and over the last year or so appear to be moving away from the values that the VA07 endorse and propped up Rep. Spanberger but her votes in the House just are not there to support such.

One thing is clear however, Abigail Spanberger has not worked in a bipartisan effort with Virginia Republicans in the Virginia Congressional Delegation over the last year and has voted with Nancy Pelosi 94% of the time and along with Progressives like Rashida Tlaib(MI) and Ilhan Omar(MN) 90% of the time since joining Congress.

Battleground Districts: Virginia Senate Districts (Is Politics Still Local?)

                                                                "All Politics is Local"

The Commonwealth of Virginia's November Election this year has been declared a "battleground" in political terms between opposing forces and directions in Virginia politics. Virginia over the last decade has been moving to the left in terms of election outcomes. Now place is that illustrated more than the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia.

Two counties, Chesterfield and Henrico, are political microcosms for what is happening in suburbia all across America as families move out of urban centers for better schools, larger homes, access to greater diversity of religious and family activities for families and safety and security from crime. Many of these families still have at least one adult working in the urban center  but have chosen to move outside the the city into the county that is commonly called suburbia.

Richmond, the capital of Virginia, has experienced an urban revival in the last few years with greater economic activity and development. The city is as vibrant as ever while at the same time trending extremely divisive politically to many. Recently Levar Stoney, the Mayor of Richmond, led a movement to boycott the Jamestown Assembly Celebration commemorating the longest running legislative body in America. This boycott was due to the extended invitation to President Donald Trump by the Jamestown committee in which Mayor Stoney was a member.

Decisions such as the Jamestown celebration point to a leadership that appears to represent the will of one Party or one political figure in truth and not the greater citizenry at large. Mayor's represent more than just those whom elected them and a capital city Mayor represents more than just the city that elected him or her. As the capital seat, Richmond represents the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. This gets lost in the politics of the day in Richmond all too often as Richmond.

There are four Virginia Senate Districts with boundaries in and around Richmond. These districts are the 10th, 11th , 12th and 16th Senatorial Districts of Virginia. The following is the breakdown each district is exposed to the city of Richmond and the suburban counties:

Every Senate seat in of the ballot next month. The current Senate majority remains in the hands of Republicans but by very thin margins. This election could change the political direction of the Commonwealth and policies impacting every Virginian should the power shift to Democrats. The Democrats control the Executive under Governor Ralph Northam and Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax's leadership. Both leaders have been entangled in scandal over the last year with sexual assault allegations against Fairfax and Northam for his exposed "blackface" episode and his radio show comments regarding abortion earlier this year during the last Assembly session.

Virginia Democrats have chosen to ignore the scandals. Its a tactic that may or may not backfire on Virginia Democrats given they are as close as they have ever been in recent memory of securing both chambers in the Assembly and controlling the Executive Mansion until 2021. Republicans point to the hypocrisy given many Virginia Democrat leaders including two Virginia Senators and former Virginia Governors were so highly critical of Judge Kavanaugh  last September and the his nomination for SCOTUS. Democrats have ignored the scandal in large part due to its dependence upon women voters in suburbia.

The scandals point the hypocrisy of Virginia Democrats one full display. Fairfax was never investigated by the Assembly. No hearings. Northam in large part now has moved past the episode and regain his approval rating points lost during the scandal. To many this was accomplished the media failed to cover the scandals with any vigor as they would had it been a Republican. Remember the tenacity Democrats went after Republican Bob McDonnell over unauthorized gifts. Gifts appear to be more important to Virginia Democrats and the Richmond media than sexual assault or the safety of women throughout Virginia

Virginia Democrats have largely ignored the scandals of Northam and Fairfax along with the media and have concentrated on Republican controlled Senate seats with a constant barrage of campaign resources targeting these seats.

The 16th District is an outlier in the sense that no Republican is on the ballot. The 10th and 12th have been targeted because to the success of Democrat candidates like the Governor, Senators Kaine and Warner and Clinton in recent elections. The 11th however appears to be the most heated and contested in large part because this district has significant exposure to suburban voters to the tune of 133,000 voters. Chesterfield County is home to almost 350,000 residents as of 2017.

Why has the Virginia Senate District 11 become such a target in truth? The fact is the 11th is a Trump district. Why does that matter? The Democratic National Committee (DNC) after loses in North Carolina and Pennsylvania special elections are looking for a win to fuel a greater narrative going into 2020. A win in the 11th would be a significant victory in terms of the media messaging and because the 11th is a pro-Trump district a sword to be used against the President.

So what happens when the DNC targets a local district?

The Virginia 11th is under siege. Under siege from campaign resources from outside the Commonwealth. The moment that the DNC and Progressive media targeted Virginia Senate seats, campaign contributions to challengers has exploded. Recent reporting states that Democrats have been out raising Republicans but where is this money coming from?

Well its not coming from Virginians.

In recent weeks millions is flowing into the coffers of Democrats from outside Virginia. Emily's List recently reported donating an additional 1.5 million to Democrats supporting third term (late term) abortions with no restrictions after donating 500,000 in June.  Forward Majority PAC has donated another 500,000 to Democrats following Progressive George Soros lead in providing 500,000 to Planned Parenthood Action Fund which in turn contributed to Democrats throughout the Commonwealth.

Virginia is the ONLY Assembly the Democrats believe they can flip this November!

And the money is pouring in.

For example, you now have challengers raising more money than incumbents. A fact that is almost unheard of. The money is coming in from outside to influence voting. The majority of it is being employed via social media ads and campaigns and most are in fact false or misleading ads.

In the 11th, Democrat Challenger Progressive Amanda Pohl has now out raised Sen. Amanda Chase. Democrat challenger in the 10th has now out raised Sen. Sturtevant and an interesting development in the House of Delegates race in Chesterfield, the Democrat challenger Larry Barnett has raised 3 times the amount raised by incumbent Delegate Roxanne Robinson in the Virginia 27th.

It is clear that the Virginia Republicans are under siege. ACTBLUE has mobilized significant campaigns against Republicans to raise money for Democrats. This election will shape the Commonwealth of Virginia for decades. The result of this election will determine not only policy governing Virginia but also following the upcoming census permit Democrats to redraw district lines for upcoming elections. This is commonly referred to as "gerrymandering". Districts will be redrawn again to disenfranchise even more conservative voters.

Progressives speak of voter suppression in their campaigns often and like to tell voters they are simply redoing a previous injustice in terms of boundaries but the truth is they are seeking a dominate stranglehold on power. Remember the VA 10th was redrawn already decreasing Republican areas from the district. Voters in the Congressional VA07 saw this when all the Hanover precincts pro Republican were moved out of the VA07. Result? Democrat Abigail Spanberger defeated incumbent Republican David Brat in 2018.

Voters in Virginia can reject the influence of Progressive forces from outside the Commonwealth but must turn out. Every Republican must cast a ballot this November and ensure their voice is heard before the Assembly turns Progressive and conservative voices will be silenced for decades in Virginia. If Republicans fail to turn out the vote and maintain majorities Progressives are determined to:

1.Increase Gun Restrictions and Repeal Open Carry Laws
2.Remove all restrictions on Third Term Abortions  (Virginia Dream Act)
3. Expand Medicare Funding
4. Eliminate School Choice
5. Increase Toll Road Fees and Taxes

Battle for Virginia: Update Senate District 11

Democrats in Virginia originally targeted roughly five Virginia Senate seats in the Commonwealth of Virginia held by Republicans that they hoped to flip and take control of the Virginia Senate. As it stands today going into the November elections next month, Virginia Republicans control the State Senate 21-19.

The Virginia Senate District 11 was not initially a targeted seat by the Virginia Democrat Party. However, the Virginia Democrats have shifted and determined to target Republican seats held by women. The two seats of most priority of focusing resources are Senator Amanda Chase in the 11th, Siobhan Dunnavant in 12th followed by Jill Vogel in the Virginia 27th.

This strategy appears to be an attempt to cater to female voters in the suburban communities of Richmond, Virginia whom supported Democrat Abigail Spanberger (VA07) for Congress in 2018 and supported Hillary Clinton (D) in 2016. Senate District 12 has significant exposure to voters that cast votes in the 7th Congressional District in Henrico County. Senator Chase's District li located on the other side in south city Richmond area of Chesterfield, Colonial Heights and Amelia.

Democrats are embracing recent internal developments with the local Republican committees that have created rifts between nominees and the established committees with the jurisdictions for the Party. State Senator Amanda Chase withdrew as a member of the Chesterfield County Republican Committee because of her position to not endorse the CCRC endorsed nominee for Sheriff Karl Leonard. By laws governing membership require all committee members to endorse "all" nominees on the ballot representing the Republican Party on the ballot in November. 

There have been stark differences between Sheriff Leonard and Senator Chase and her refusal to endorse the Sheriff required her membership to be withdrawn or terminated by the CCRC formally. Amanda Chase was not removed from the Republican Party as reported by contrived, biased news reporting in the area. NBC News reported Chase had been removed from the GOP which certainly is a misrepresentation of events. The headlines going viral on social media were misleading and bent on benefiting Chases's opponent in the election next month. Chase appears to #StandwithICE while the Sheriff does not. In 2017, Chesterfield under the Sheriff's leadership was identified as sanctuary county by immigration groups and the Department of Homeland Security. Officials in the local government have disputed this portrayal but the fact is it has not been amended.

Amanda Freeman Chase will not go down without a fight however. Its simply just not her nature. She has raised her id in the Republican Party by being outspoken and not settling for what Democrats in Richmond claim their bill proposals represent but rather informs the public the truth at the heart of each bill. One such example is the third term abortion bill proposed by Delegate Kathy Tran (D) of Springfield and subsequent support by Governor Northam on his radio broadcast.

Blue Virginia has done its best to spin the differences and misleading news reporting to benefit their candidate.

Blue Virginia does this to steer voters away from the obvious. The Democrats have nominated Progressives not moderate Democrats in these districts. Democrats want to run away from the scandal riddled "blackface" and sexual assault allegations of the Executive controlled by Democrats. Fiscally, Amanda Freeman Chase and Republicans delivered a surplus last year.

Democrats seek to exploit the division with the Chesterfield Republican Party Committee and Amanda Freeman Chase but voters in the 11th District understand there is much more at stake in Virginia than the egos of those in the Party establishment.

Amanda Freeman Chase has the support of the majority of her District.  There has been some differences in the Republican Party locally because Chase unseated a Republican in Senator Steve Martin and social conservative and critic of President Trump. Chase surprised the CCRC and establishment Republicans in her upset bid over Martin. Chase was a wild card not unlike Trump and for the same reason many in the establishment do not find Trump endearing they feel the same about Senator Chase. Why? Control.

Amanda Chase speaks her own mind. She creates her own messaging. Some take offense to some of her positions but its hard not to respect her. She does not define herself by the Republican Party and the old guard refuses to accept their irrelevance. The CCRC has witnessed the Chesterfield County go from dark "red" to "purple" over the last two decades. The lack a unified message for voters from School Board to Board of Supervisors. Democrats have increased the percentages of votes cast fro them every cycle and Chesterfield no longer is a Republican stronghold for Statewide or Federal offices like President.

Chesterfield County has become a battleground County and will remain so for quite some time now. Partly do to the diversity of the County and population growth but also because the CCRC has been unable to create a unified messaging campaign taking into account those officials like Chase who seek fiscal conservative platform. Chase has also been an strong supporter of the Second Amendment and opposed to expansion of Medicaid. The expansion is an example where there has been a split in Republicans.

There are issues that many take with Senator Chase in terms of her personality. This of course is not unlike the President, but Virginians risk losing the State Senate should the 11th District become a Democrat seat after the November election.

What does this mean to citizens of Chesterfield and Virginia at large?

If the Democrats secure the State Senate and the House of Delegates than Democrats will repeal open carry laws and legislate more gun free zones and gun restrictions. Democrats are determined to expand a broken entitlement program like Medicaid at the very time their own Party at the national level states that Obamacare (ACA) is broken and Medicare for All should be enacted. Virginia Democrats will repeal war memorial legislation that protects Virginia's monuments erected over the years since its founding. Repeal would guarantee the removal of Confederate monuments along Monument Avenue in Richmond, monuments at Fort Monroe and Norfolk and statues in Charlottesville, Va of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson that a federal judge recently ordered could not be removed due to the war memorial law enacted by the Virginia General Assembly.

Democrats will not stop with the repeals. They will fundamentally change Virginia. Democrats proposed last session a third term (late term) abortion bill that would permit abortions right up to the time of birth. They claim this is a human civil right for women. Democrats will also work to transform the Virginia educational system even more through identity politics but also through restricting school choice and homeschooling of children.

Is the 11th Senate District in play?

Amanda Chase won her seat with 64% of the vote in 2015 defeating E. Wayne Powell.  In 2016 Trump won the district 53-42 over Hillary Clinton and in 2017 Ed Gillespie garnered 53% of to vote over Governor Northam's 46%.  Both John Adams and Jill Vogel won the 11th with 10 basis points but in 2018 Tim Kaine earned 50% of the district.

The 11th is changing demographically. Amelia and Colonial Heights is solid Republican territory but only represents about 10,000 of the votes cast in the District. The majority of the votes will be cast in Chesterfield precincts. Republican historical average is 65% in these areas.

Trump won 29 precincts to Clinton's 13 in 2016 where roughly 75,000 votes were cast. A significant of the districts won by Trump and Chase in 2015 come from the larger precincts like Skinquarter, Bailey Bridge, Winterpock and Nash.

The resources being targeted against Amanda Freeman Chase may be very telling for the entire Commonwealth. Senator Siobhan Dunnavant from the 12th District has been highlighting the countless ads that are misleading and false being levied against her campaign for re-election. The resources are coming from the Virginia Democrat Party and ACTBlue in an effort to flip these Republican female seats to their side.

Question remains why a Party that claims to fight for women so much has determined that its future is only secured by targeting Republican districts held by women.
